TVMS Staff Members Participate in Roundtable Discussion with State Superintendent Arne Duncan

Sun, 02/22/2015 - 10:25pm

Dear TVMS Families,

Yesterday, four of our staff had an opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with Secretary Arne Duncan, State Superintendent Dr. Lillian Lowery, and Howard County Superintendent Dr. Foose. I cannot tell you how proud I was to have these four staff represent TVMS and share their perspective on innovative practices for teaching and student learning in the 21st century. Not only did they articulate our school vision, but they also shared their perspective on curriculum, changes in instructional design that allow us to meet the needs of diverse learners, and professional supports they have received in house and through the county. These four staff represented a cross-section of disciplines, including math, science, instructional technology, and the arts.

Thank you to Rachel Ludlow, Keith Janelli, Melanie Poknis, and Melissa Waggoner for participating on behalf of TVMS and for being an example of the best HCPSS has to offer. I would also like to thank Ms. McKirahan for attending the event as a representative of our PTSA.

The discussion was streamed live and can be viewed here (scroll down to the photo for the video).

Regards,
Shiney Ann John
